What Factors Should Be Considered Before Buying Paintball Pistols?

Paintball pistols are a type of paintball marker that uses the same paintball technology as a regular paintball gun. These markers are used for shooting smaller, slower-moving paintballs. If you're new to the paintball world, you'll likely want to keep your first purchase simple - and there's no question that a pistol is the simplest marker to start with.

It doesn't have a power source (beyond the one stored in its disposable CO2 canister), it's effortless to use, and it has minimal moving parts. These pistols are made by many of the same manufacturers as their regular paintball counterparts. There are a few different styles of these pistols on the market today.

The most common is a blowback-style marker that uses a spring to propel the ball forward. These kinds of pistols are designed to look and feel like actual firearms. Other popular styles are based on the CO2-powered automatic pistols that you've probably seen in movies - with rotating drums that hold many rounds at once and fire them in quick succession.

First Ever Paintball Pistols

The first commercially available pistol was distributed by Smart Parts when they introduced the Tippmann 98 in 1993. The Tippmann 98 was named after George Tippmann, the founder of the company. The 98 guns had a gas system to replace HPA because it was cheaper and easier to maintain.

Unlike other Tippmann guns, the Tippmann 98 used a piston-driven system instead of an operating rod on every shot. It also had a grip that could be unscrewed and replaced with another one made out of rubber or nylon. In less than two decades, paintball pistols have evolved from simple pistols to complex markers with customizable components, shapes, and styles for every player's needs and budget.

Some paintball guns are designed to fire two or three balls at once. Others are designed to be used with air, CO2, or HPA. A few can also be fired as a "blowback" gun, which sends a rocket-shaped projectile out of the barrel. Many different paintball guns have been invented over the years,

Key Factors to Consider:

Paintball pistols are a great way to improve your paintball game. They are cheap, versatile, and easy to use. However, if you plan on buying a set of pistols there are 5 factors that you should consider before making your purchase:

  • How Much Money do I Want to Spend?

Generally, paintball pistols cost from $10-80. You can find plenty of models at the lower end of this price range suitable for beginners or those who plan on using their pistols for simple backyard games. If you plan to play tournaments or more advanced games, you may want to invest in a higher-end pistol which will give you greater accuracy and distance.

  • Do I Need the Pistol to be Spring-loaded or CO2 Powered?

There is a wide variety of pistols on the market so this really depends on your personal preference. Spring-loaded pistols usually cost less and are simpler to operate but they may not always shoot as far as CO2-powered pistols. CO2 pistols are often more reliable and can shoot farther than spring-loaded models.

  • What Kind of Paintball System do I Have?

Paintball pistols really only work with standard paintball systems. This means if you plan on using your pistol to shoot on woodball fields or outside, you will need a paintball system that is designed for the pistol. If you have a sniping setup that allows for distance shooting, then you will need a CO2-powered paintball gun.

  • How Often do I Plan on Playing?

Some people make their purchases based solely on the amount of play they plan to get out of it. If this is what you are doing, then go ahead and buy an inexpensive model that is easy to use and only has 3 shots in the magazine. Others will be interested in a pistol that shoots farther and has more options for distance. If you are planning to play every week you may want to invest in a high-end model so you can really get the most out of it.

  • What is My Level of Experience?

An important thing to consider is the type of paintball game that you are playing. If you plan on playing in an advanced tournament, you will likely find yourself in a situation where your equipment needs to be up to par. If this is your first time buying paintball gear, or if you have never played with pistols before, it would probably be best to start with a lower-end model that has simple functionality and limited range.

The Popularity of Paintball Pistols!

There is a growing number of people that enjoy playing paintball games. Painting with a paintball can either be an exciting and fun hobby or an inexpensive way to do some target practice. They have been in use for many years and as the popularity of paintball has grown, so has the option to buy different types of paintball pistols.

Pneumatic-powered paintballs are now considered a preferred model due to the ease with which they fire and the power they unleash. A pneumatic powered pistol will allow you to add even more style to your gameplay by firing off shots with greater speed and accuracy than traditional models. The pistol is also known as a 'hybrid' and is considered to be the most popular type of gun in paintball.

This style of paintball gun will have an internal tank with a pump that is attached to the barrel of the gun, allowing you to fill it with paintballs. This style of pneumatic pistol may be economical but there are many options and different models on the market so you can tailor your gun to suit your play style.
